Geebung sits about twelve kilometres north of the Brisbane CBD, a well established pocket of the city’s northern suburbs built up in the years after the Second World War. It has long appealed to families and commuters alike, largely because it offers the best of both worlds, quiet, leafy residential streets paired with quick access to Brisbane City via its own railway station on the Caboolture line.
Locals tend to describe life here as relaxed and community minded, with neighbours who have often been on the same street for years, alongside newer families drawn by the mix of character post war homes and updated builds.

For a compact suburb of under four square kilometres, Geebung is remarkably green, with nine parks scattered across the area, including 7th Brigade Park, Geebung Park, Rainbow Lorikeet Park and the bushland along Downfall Creek Reserve. Downfall Creek itself forms the natural boundary between Geebung and the neighbouring suburbs of Chermside and Wavell Heights, and its corridor offers a pleasant spot for a walk or a weekend outing. These pockets of green space give residents plenty of options for a morning walk, a stroll with the dog, or somewhere for the kids to burn off energy after school.
Day to day shopping is easy, with a handful of local shops along Newman Road covering the basics. For a bigger outing, Westfield Chermside is just next door, one of Brisbane’s largest shopping and entertainment precincts. Getting around is straightforward too, with Geebung’s own railway station on the Caboolture line providing direct services into the Brisbane CBD as well as connections towards Ipswich, Caboolture and the Sunshine Coast, making it a genuinely practical base for commuters

Families in Geebung are well served for primary schooling, with Geebung State School and St Kevin’s Catholic Primary School both located within the suburb on Newman Road, alongside Geebung Special School for students needing extra support. There is no secondary school within Geebung itself. The nearest state high schools are Aspley State High School, Craigslea State High School in Chermside West and Wavell State High School in Wavell Heights, all within a short drive.
For families considering private education, Padua College and Mount Alvernia College, both in nearby Kedron, offer well regarded Catholic secondary schooling for boys and girls respectively.

The Geebung Property Market at a Glance
Geebung’s housing stock is dominated by houses, which make up the vast majority of the suburb’s dwellings, alongside a smaller number of units and vacant blocks. It is very much an owner occupier suburb, with seventy two percent of homes owner occupied at the most recent census, up from just over seventy percent five years earlier, and the median house value has climbed to around $1.3 million.
Long average ownership periods, of around sixteen years for houses, point to a settled community rather than a fast turnover market. That said, there is still a solid rental market for those not yet ready to buy, with houses typically renting for around $725 a week.
